It's mainly divided into two parts:
🧪 JEE Main
Conducted by: National Testing Agency (NTA)
Purpose: Admission to NITs, IIITs, and other centrally funded technical institutions.
Eligibility: 10+2 pass with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics.
Format:
Multiple sessions a year (usually in January and April).
Computer-based test.
Subjects: Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics.
Duration: 3 hours.
Marking: +4 for correct, -1 for wrong.
🏛️ JEE Advanced
Conducted by: One of the IITs (changes yearly) under the guidance of the Joint Admission Board (JAB).
Purpose: Admission to IITs.
Eligibility:
Must be among the top candidates in JEE Main (usually top 2.5 lakh).
Additional eligibility based on age and attempt limits.
Format:
Two papers (Paper 1 and 2), both mandatory.
Subjects: Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics.
Advanced questions: conceptual, analytical, and tricky.
Varies in pattern every year (MCQs, numerical, matrix match, etc.).
